WATCH: Amazing winning 3 from Tyler Ennis keeps Cuse unbeaten

By Matt Norlander | Staff Writer

It was the shot that sank Pittsburgh.

Not since Stanford in 2004 has a team held on to an undefeated season in this fashion.

Trailing by one with 4.4 seconds to go, Syracuse freshman point guard Tyler Ennis hit a running 35-footer to keep No. 1 Syracuse flawless and continue the dream of an unbeaten campaign.

The Orange won 58-56. It continues to be the greatest start to a season in school history, now at 24-0.

"He had his worst game tonight all year," Jim Boeheim saidof Ennis on TV afterward. "We tried to go to C.J. [Fair]. They played him (Ennis), they didn't just let him dribble down."

Boeheim added, "You gotta be a little lucky, and that was a little lucky, but you still gotta shoot it."

Ennis shot it, and that's the biggest basket of the season so far. What a shot. Ennis finished with 13 points. His only 3 of the night came as time expired.

Coming into this game, Syracuse was 1-6 all time in the Petersen Events Center. This was the first time Pitt (20-5) has ever fallen at home in that building to a team ranked in the top five.

Syracuse went more than 34 minutes in the game between having the lead. Ennis sank two free throws with 10.8 to go to give SU a 55-54 lead. But a foul by Rakeem Christmas sent Talib Zanna, a 61-percent free throw shooter, to the line. He sank both.

Then Tyler Ennis shot himself into Syracuse lore.
