Texas A&M's Davonte Fitzgerald (knee) out for season

Texas A&M knocked off bubble team LSU on Wednesday night, the Aggies' second win in three games. However, the Aggies followed it up with bad news on Thursday.

Freshman forward Davonte Fitzgerald is out for the rest of the season with a knee injury, the school announced.

Fitzgerald, a 6-foot-7 native of Georgia, suffered the injury in the first half of Wednesday's game. It came during one of the freshman's best games of the season, as he already had 11 points and three rebounds in just nine minutes.

He has been productive for most of the season, averaging 7.3 points and 2.3 blocks in 24 games. There was a three-game stretch in January in which Fitzgerald averaged 15.0 points and 3.0 rebounds. He's knocking down 35.3 percent of his 3-pointers in SEC play.

Texas A&M is 14-10 overall, 5-6 in SEC play. The Aggies play at Vanderbilt this weekend.
