Falling debris indefinitely postpones Iowa-Indiana to a later date

By Matt Norlander | College Basketball Writer

Damage to seating combined with safety concerns at legendary Assembly Hall has caused Tuesday night's Hawkeyes-Hoosiers game to be put off. The makeup date for the game has not yet been determined.

Indiana announced Tuesday afternoon that a piece of metal "roughly eight feet long by 14 inches wide" that became detatched and fell from the ceiling of the venue damaged seating. This came around 2:30 p.m. ET.

IU athletic director Fred Glass said in a statement, "Safety is our No.1 priority. Our University engineers have advised us to postpone events in Assembly Hall until it can be determined what caused the facing to fall and ensure the safety of everyone attending an event in the facility."

Indiana is 14-11 and has lost its past three games, while Iowa is safely in the NCAA tournament at this point thanks to a 19-6 record and 8-4 mark in the Big Ten.
