Syracuse did not have a good week. The Orange took their first loss of the season at home to Boston College, then coach Jim Boeheim imploded at the end of the Duke game and sealed their second straight defeat. That's not enough to knock Syracuse off the top line of the bracket yet. Of course, two teams that were No. 2 seeds in the previous bracket lost Saturday as well, so that helped.
Seven teams entered January without a loss. Syracuse is the fifth of those to follow their first loss with another. Only Arizona was able to rebound from its first loss with a win. And, of course, Wichita State is still undefeated.
The bottom of the bracket churned as well. Minnesota fell off after a loss at Ohio State, but remains in the first four out. Tennessee fell even farther off than that after another especially gut-wrenching loss to Texas A&M.
Gonzaga took another bad loss at San Diego, which is the Zags second straight loss. They have a couple more road games against Pacific and St. Mary's next week that aren't gimmes. Any win clinches the West Coast conference regular season title outright.
Also, I added UW Green Bay to the bubble list, even though I don't think they have much of a chance of an at-large bid. I think they have the best chance of the teams from one-bid leagues (I include C-USA in that group) mostly because of a win over Virginia.
Expect daily bracket updates as needed for the rest of the season.
