Thirty-four up, 34 down. Wichita State has notched yet another iteration of history.

The No. 2-ranked Wichita State Shockers ran the table in league play, culminating an amazing season by going 34-0 after beating Indiana State 83-69 in Sunday afternoon's Missouri Valley Conference title game.

Wichita State is now the second team in men's Division I college basketball history to reach 34-0 in one season. The 1990-91 UNLV Runnin' Rebels are the only other team to match that mark. The Shockers also won their first Missouri Valley Conference tournament since 1987.

Fred VanVleet, Shockers sophomore point guard who was the league's Player of the Year, finished with a team-high 22 points, 20 of them coming in the second half. The Shockers had four starters score in double figures.

The Sycamores had 18 apiece from Manny Arop and Justin Gants. Star senior guard Jake Odum was nagged by a hand injury. And ISU was not able to overcome the Shockers in part because of a lot of missed opportunities. CBS' broadcast noted at least 12 missed layups for ISU.
