How often do we get job news regarding someone on the selection committee? Almost never.

But the Pac-12 has announced that West Coast Conference commissioner Jamie Zaninovich will leave his post with the WCC this summer and become Pac-12 deputy commissioner/COO. Zaninovich will start July 1.

"We are excited to welcome such an accomplished leader in intercollegiate athletics to the Pac-12," league commissioner Larry Scott said in a statement. "Jamie brings invaluable experience leading the WCC and has established himself as one of the influential national voices in our industry. He will be a great asset to our universities as we continue to pursue an ambitious agenda as the most innovative and best collegiate conference."

Because Zaninovich is a current employee of the WCC and a future one of the Pac-12, he has to remove himself from the room whenever any WCC or Pac-12 seeding/bracket inclusion discussions take place this week in Indianapolis, where the selection committee is currently bunkered and building out the bracket.

Zaninovich will replace Kevin Weiberg, who served as deputy commissioner for the past four seasons. Zaninovich has overseen the WCC for seven seasons, helping increase the profile of the league by bringing in BYU, via the Mountain West, in 2011.

"In his new role with the Pac-12, Zaninovich will have the oversight responsibility for all aspects of the Conference's operations, including governance, enforcement, compliance, sports management, championships, football bowl relationships, officiating, and television administration," according to a Pac-12 release.

Zaninovich graduated from Stanford.
