Bracketology: Kansas, Syracuse lose again; Mizzou out, BYU in

Kansas' hopes of a No. 1 seed in the bracket drifted away after a hard-fought loss to Iowa State in the Big 12 tournament. The Jayhawks now have nine losses total, and while they are still on the 2-line for now.

Syracuse fell again, this time to North Carolina State. The Orange lost five of their last seven games, including bad home losses to Boston College and Georgia Tech. They dropped down to a four seed.

Kansas wasn't the only tournament top seed to lose today. UC Irvine, Utah Valley, Saint Louis and Cincinnati also fell, bringing the total number of top seed losers to 16. There have been only four winners so far.

The Billikens were upended by St. Bonaventure on a last second shot. The Bonnies are trying to repeat their run from two years ago, when they stole a bid by winning the A-10 tournament. If that happens, it will not necessarily be another A-10 team that drops out.

Cincinnati also lost in the waning seconds to UConn. Neither team's seed changed as a result though.

Louisville moved up to the 2-line with a win over Houston though. The Cards move was as a result of Syracuse and Cincinnati losing more than its own win.

BYU replaced Missouri in the bracket today after the Tigers got blown out by Florida and Minnesota was decimated by Wisconsin. Even though the Cougars appear in the higher seeded play in game, they are in fact the last team in the bracket. They were moved so they could avoid playing on Sunday. If a tournament bid is stolen, it will be theirs. At least that is how it stands at the moment.
