George Washington G Kethan Savage (foot) '50-50' for Memphis game

By Chip Patterson | College Football/Basketball Writer

George Washington coach Mike Lonergan would not rule out Kethan Savage from Friday's Round of 64 game against Memphis, but it sounds like the Colonials guard will remain sidelined with a foot injury.

Savage did not take part in the team's open practice on Thursday, and he has not played an entire game since suffering a broken foot on Jan. 18.

On Thursday Lonergan told the media he was preparing for Memphis as if Savage is not going to play, but would not rule out another brief appearance -- Savage recorded one minute in the loss to VCU in the Atlantic 10 tournament -- for the 6-3 sophomore.

"Maybe the trainer comes to me tomorrow afternoon and says he wants to play. That's what happened last game," Lonergan said. "We were told he could play up to four minutes. Unfortunately, his foot was sore maybe 45 seconds or a minute in, so he didn't play.

"I'm staying out of that one because he's got two years left. He had a great season and I wish he was playing. Maybe he does, but I don't really know. It's just I'm prepared that he's not going to play."

George Washington and Memphis are scheduled to tip off at 6:55 p.m. ET on Friday and will be broadcast on TBS and online through
