Shortly after No. 3 Iowa State's 97-73 win over No. 14 North Carolina Central on Friday night, the team took some terrible news.

Georges Niang, a skilled forward/star for the Cyclones, was revealed to have broken his right foot. The injury will take a minimum of six weeks to recover, meaning Niang's season is over.

The school released the news via's the team's official men's basketball Twitter account.

Niang averaged 16.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists entering Friday's game. He's a vital forward. Iowa State's Final Four hopes certainly take a hit without him.

It was a very emotional night for both of these teams. This particular image was striking as well.
