Xavier sophomore guard Semaj Christon is leaving school to pursue the NBA, a source confirmed to CBSSports.com.

The story was first reported by ESPN.com.

Christon averaged 17 points and 4.2 assists during his sophomore season at Xavier, earning All-Big East first-team honors. He scored 14 points in the Musketeers' First Four loss to NC State.

Projected as a first-round pick in June, according to some, Christon falls at No. 28 on CBSSports.com's 2014 NBA Draft Prospect Rankings.

Xavier went 21-13 this season.
