ARLINGTON, Texas -- UConn senior point guard Shabazz Napier picked up some hardware in advance of Monday night's national title game.

Napier won the Bob Cousy Award, which is given out to the best point guard in college basketball. It's handed out by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Napier wins the award three years removed from former teammate/Husky Kemba Walker.

In March, Napier was named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Year. He was an AP All-America First Team selection, in addition to being a First Team choice.

"It is an honor for us to award such a worthy athlete of this prestigious award," Cousy said in a statement. "Napier has fought hard in the NCAA Tournament and has stood out all throughout his college career as a dominant force in the game and a remarkable point guard."

Napier is averaging 17.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 1.8 steals. The most recent winners have been Michigan's Trey Burke (2013) and UNC's Kendall Marshall (2012).
