One of the best Kansas big men in school history is heading to the NBA.

Freshman Joel Embiid, who averaged 11.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 2.6 blocks, announced at a Wednesday press conference that he will leave school and pursue the NBA. Embiid's decision was under some doubt in recent weeks due to a back issue that caused him to miss the final six games of Kansas' season.

The 7-footer from Cameroon has been considered as a No. 1 overall pick. It remains to be seen if the stress fracture in his back will prevent that from happening. Embiid was thought to be at least a two-year player before the season, but his play bloomed in such a way that his stock soared and changed the dynamic of Kansas' team.
