Some tattoo. Pretty tattoo. Big tattoo. But backstory first.
Guy named Michael Gray tweets that he'll ink up his body with Willie Cauley-Stein's face if the Kentucky sophomore big man bypasses the NBA and returns to UK for a third season.
That was last Monday. Hours later Cauley-Stein announces he'll back back in Lexington for 2014-15. And Cauley-Stein took the oath seriously, even asking Gray to own up to it publicly.
So Gray scouts out the right spot to get the work done, and there you have it. Pretty good. It doesn't look exactly like WCS, but close enough. And either way, he didn't skimp on size. Man of his word, so WCS is now on that kid's calf forever. And Gray told WKYT that he'll add on to the tat if Kentucky wins the title next season.
Credit to Gray for going through with this, but I think we're past the point of tattoes as shock value or social contracts. What once seemed outrageous has now floated into borderline hackneyed. It's still a big commitment to go through on, but we might need an ante-up on sports bets as they pertain to bodily sacrifice.
