Oregon sophomore Dominic Artis is leaving the program, according to an ESPN report.

Artis, a 6-foot-1 point guard from Oakland, averaged 4.1 points and 2.2 assists this past season.

After an impressive freshman campaign, it seemed like Artis would have a bright future in Eugene. But a suspension for selling school-provided shoes forced Artis to miss the first nine games of his sophomore season, and he never regained the consistency that was so important during his first season. Johnathan Loyd took the starting job during Artis' suspension and didn't give it up.

Artis averaged 8.5 points and 3.2 assists as a freshman, and could be a sought-after point guard on the transfer market.

With Artis and Loyd gone, Oregon could look to incoming freshman combo guard JaQuan Lyle to run the point -- but the Ducks are also going after former California commit Ahmaad Rorie.
