Early scouting report/how they match up vs. North Carolina: What doesn't bode well for OSU? Roy Williams is 6-0 against the Buckeyes in his career.
The Heels will be ranked higher heading into the season, but by the time this game is played both teams will have a firm idea of what they are. OSU never had an identity on offense last season -- other than the fact it was among the worst good teams in the nation when it came to scoring. The Buckeyes won in spite of their inability to look good with the ball. Shannon Scott should be a fun matchup against UNC's Marcus Paige (possible preseason First Team All-American), and Sam Thompson will be one of the best dunkers in the nation next season.
D'Angelo Russell, an incoming freshman, will be the key for the Bucks. He'll give OSU something it hasn't had in a long time: a dynamic guard that can get his but isn't overwhelmingly selfish.
Ohio State will almost definitely still be better on D than O. It won't be tremendously deep. Amir Williams vs. Kennedy Meeks in the paint will be an interesting battle. Meeks has a shot to be really good if he puts in the work and sheds a little baby fat. Williams will be a bulky senior that could have a breakout yet. Given location, OSU will probably be able to put more fans in the seats in Chicago than UNC will, too.
