New coach Kevin Keatts is already making an impact at UNC-Wilmington.

Jacksonville transfer Jarvis Haywood pledged to the Seahawks on Thursday night, with Keatts beating out the likes of Temple, Cincinnati, North Carolina State and Richmond for his services.

The news was first reported by Scout.com.

Haywood was a big-time scorer at Jacksonville, averaging 16.6 points last season. He left after the Dolphins fired coach Cliff Warren after nine seasons -- but had plenty of suitors on the transfer market. Haywood is going to be an impact transfer for UNCW, given his ability to knock down shots from the perimeter and get his own look on the offensive end. The Seahawks lacked a go-to scorer last season, but Haywood will fill that void in a couple of years.

The Charlotte native will have two years of eligibility left after sitting out the 2014-15 season.
