Notre Dame has officially readmitted suspended guard Jerian Grant, it announced on Wednesday.

He is expected to begin classes when summer school starts.

“The University recently granted readmission to a group of individuals, and that group included student-athletes Jerian Grant and [suspended wide receiver] DaVaris Daniel," the school said in a statement. "Both will return to Notre Dame beginning with summer school next month.”

Grant had been suspended from the team after 12 games last season, suddenly announcing he was no longer enrolled due to an academic issue.

“I am no longer part of the basketball program and will not be on the court competing with my teammates for the remainder of the 2013-14 season,” Grant said at the time.

“I take full responsibility for my lack of good judgment and the poor decision that I made. I have no one to blame but myself for the situation. I know and understand the expectations that go with being a student at Notre Dame and I did not live up to those standards.”

Grant expected to return to the school after the spring semester, and he stayed on schedule.

The 6-foot-5 Grant was the team's leading scorer before his suspension, averaging 19.0 points and 6.2 assists. Notre Dame went just 7-13 in his absence.
