Montana has hired California assistant Travis DeCuire as its basketball coach, sources said Friday.

An official announcement is expected before the end of the weekend.

DeCuire will replace Wayne Tinkle, who recently was named head coach of Oregon State.

A 1994 graduate of Montana, DeCuire spent the past six seasons under Mike Montgomery at Cal including the previous two as associate head coach.

During his time in Berkeley, DeCuire was responsible for the on-court development of three separate Pac-12 players of the year in Allen Crabbe, Jerome Randle, and Jorge Gutierrez.

DeCuire played point guard at Montana from 1992-94, was a two-time team MVP as a junior and senior and owns the school's all-time assist record at 435.
