Ex-FDU head coach Greg Vetrone named assistant at Rutgers

By Jon Rothstein | CBS Sports

Rutgers head coach Eddie Jordan will hire Greg "Shoes" Vetrone as an assistant coach.

Vetrone will replace David Cox, who is currently on the staff at Rhode Island as an assistant under Dan Hurley.

A New York native, Vetrone was the head coach at Fairleigh Dickinson from 2009-13 and was fired after going 26-95 in four years.

He was previously an assistant at both UNLV (where he was heavily involved in the recruitment of Lamar Odom) and UC Irvine.

Rutgers went 12-21 last year and will enter the Big Ten during the upcoming 2014-15 season.
