Charleston's Doug Wojcik facing probation for verbal abuse

College of Charleston men's basketball coach Doug Wojcik is being investigated because of allegations of verbal abuse against his players, and he could ultimately be placed on probation by the school or even lose his job, a source has told CBSSports.com.

Marlene Navor, director of athletics communications at Charleston, told CBSSports.com late Tuesday that the school has no comment "at this time." Wojcik, 50, did not immediately return a message left late Tuesday by CBSSports.com.

ABCNews4.com reported Tuesday that the investigation is focused on Wojcik's day-to-day treatment of players, some of whom met with school officials last week. The Post and Courier newspaper added that Wojcik is expected to undergo counseling, at the least.

Wojcik is four months away from starting his third season at Charleston.

He previously coached at Tulsa for seven years.
