Butler has announced that Indiana transfer/grad student Austin Etherington will miss at least three months, and maybe as much as four, after undergoing foot surgery Thursday.

The right-foot ailment happened during traditional team workouts.

"It's a tough blow for Austin, but we're glad that the surgery went well," Butler head coach Brandon Miller said via statement. "He's overcome adversity in the past, and we're confident that he will make a full recovery. We're looking forward to his return, and we're excited about the contribution he'll make to our program this season."

Etherington actually is the rare grad transfer who has two years of eligibility left. The reason? Prior injury. He hurt his knee while a sophomore at Indiana, forcing him to medically redshirt that season. But he kept pace to graduate, and now he's still got plenty of time to help another Indiana school.

Etherington averaged 2.0 points and 1.6 rebounds for IU last season. He was a standout high school player in the state.
