Though they went decades without doing it, in the past 10 years, it's nothing new that college athletes are conditioning year-round -- and harder than ever.
Still, it's always eye-opening to get a glimpse of the training they endure. Playing D-I is practically a 365-days-a-year gig. From schoolwork to games to practice ... and all that training. The offseason is the most grueling. As you can see in the video above, Indiana is using a litany of techniques to improve conditioning.
The sideways tire shuffle dealio seems particularly not fun. Doing lunges while holding 45-pound weights also isn't enticing. I was preparing to head to my gym for a quick weightlifting session in a few here, but it seems practically worthless by comparison when watching what Yogi Ferrell and Co. are doing. The GoPro viewpoint is a nice touch, too.
Indiana failed to make the NCAA Tournament last year, going 17-15 and losing freshman Noah Vonleh to the NBA lottery. The Hoosiers should have a solid bounce-back year, and you can't blame them for lack of prep. The Big Ten is going to be very interesting next season, too.
