Charleston fired coach Doug Wojcik on Tuesday for what president Glenn McConnell described as "just cause" after investigations into allegations of verbal and physical abuse. reported last month that it had become "increasingly unlikely" that Wojcik would ever coach again at Charleston even though Wojcik vowed never to resign even after a 50-page report painted him as a "bully" who consistently berated players during tirades laced with obscenities, personal attacks and physical threats. Wojcik was mostly absent during the July evaluation period for college coaches. Sources told that he was only on the road recruiting for one of the three five-day periods.

Wojcik spent two years at Charleston.

He was 38-29 overall, 20-14 in league play.

Sources told that there's internal support to hire Charleston great Anthony Johnson, who retired from the NBA in 2010. Johnson wants the job, according to sources.
