Three hundred tickets stolen for Kentucky's Bahamas exhibition tour

By Matt Norlander | College Basketball Writer

Kentucky tickets are so hot -- even for hyped-up scrimmages -- that they're getting stolen.

The university sent out a release late Friday afternoon that 300 tickets from a booklet were pilfered upon arrival in the Bahamas. The team is there for the next 10 days as part of its offseason trip; the NCAA allows schools to take one foreign trip every four years.

The tickets in question aren't just for a game -- they're package deals. A ticket allows you entry for all of UK's six exhibition games. Or did. Kentucky's already said the tickets swiped will no longer be worthy of admission, and the rabid UK fans who've made a summer vacation of out this and are hoping to score some ducats should not buy them from possible scalpers.

"Fans are encouraged to be vigilant in purchasing tickets in the Bahamas," UK's statement on the matter said. "Kendal Isaacs Gymnasium personnel have been informed of the stolen tickets and will not allow entry to anyone attempting to use tickets flagged as stolen. Fans who have already purchased tickets for the Big Blue Bahamas tour will not be affected."

Kentucky is playing the Puerto Rico national team reserves, the Champagne Chalons-Reims Basket and the Dominican Republic national team. They'll play each group twice. Kentucky's Bahamian tour begins Sunday and concludes on Aug. 17.
