Trayvon Reed commits to Auburn, Tigers keep foot on recruiting gas

By Jon Rothstein | CBS Sports

Former Maryland commit Trayvon Reed has committed to Auburn, sources told CBSSports.com.

The 7-1 big man is expected to enroll in prep school for the fall semester and be eligible to play beginning in December of 2014.

Reed was thought to be a big part of the Terps' incoming class this season, but he was dismissed earlier this summer after being charged with assaulting a police officer.

The Georgia native was a consensus Top-100 recruit coming of high school (the No. 77 player and No. 9 center, according to the 247Sports composite rankings) and adds to the Tigers' impressive recruiting haul over the past week.

Since Friday, Auburn has added a pair of Top 75 players in 2015 prospects Danjel Purifoy and Horace Spencer along with junior college shooting guard T.J. Dunans.

Reed should give Bruce Pearl a legitimate anchor in the middle for many seasons to come in the SEC.
