Mo'ne Davis captivated Little League fans this summer as she broke all kinds of barriers by becoming the first girl in LLWS history to toss a shutout. All the while, Davis, a stud ace for the Taney Dragons from Philadelphia, made it known that basketball was actually her favorite sport.

In fact, her dream was to suit up for Geno Auriemma and the Connecticut Huskies, and she wasn't shy about admitting it. During her team's run to the US semifinals, Auriemma phoned Davis to wish her congratulations, advising her simply to “Get a couple of hits,” she recounted. The call reportedly lasted two minutes.

Well, according to Auriemma and the The Courant, at least one rival school reported the phone call to the American Athletic Conference, however, the school was not from the AAC. The unnamed school actually filed a complaint with the conference, calling it a potential recruiting violation.

“I was told a school turned us in for a recruiting violation because we are not allowed contact of July 1 before her junior year of high school. … That's the world we live in.”

Connecticut, however, isn't thought to be in violation of anything as “prospective student-athletes” have to have started ninth grade, and Davis, who's only 13, will be entering eighth grade this fall.

All this ignores that fact that Auriemma has no idea about her basketball chops, has never seen her play nor does he know anyone who has.

“I have no idea if the kid is very good, kind of good, not good at all, or a superstar or can even reach the basket. How is that a violation?” he asked.

To be fair, we do have a little idea if she can ball. Here she is, four years ago, breaking some kid's ankles.
