Penn State Pulls Past Illini -
Thank you for sticking with me for a fantastic finish to what looked to be a lopsided Illinois win. Penn State didn't want to disappoint the 15,000 plus in University Park, and the crowd did it's share of the work, wearing out the opposing eardrums from the opening tip to final buzzer sounded. March Madness has gotten off to an exciting start, with Conference tourneys kicking off less than a week from today. Don't miss a minute or you'll have nothing to talk about at the office!! I love this game and now so should you!!! Wade for MVP.
Penn State Pulls Past Illini -
Coach Bruce Weber has to be in contention for Coach of the Year, shaving off 11 regular season losses on the way to a Top 25 post season position. The 7'1" Sophomore center Mike Tisdale dropped in a dozen and half as many rebounds, with Demetri McCamey taking the driver's seat in the scoring race. 19 assists on their 27 field goals, but their last second defense let Battle slip through the cracks for the game deciding score.
Penn State Pulls Past Illini -
What a game for all of you Penn State fans around the Nation and hopefully this will be the nice finishing touch in putting the Lions back in the Tournament for the fist time since their Sweet 16 run in 2001. Jamelle Cornley is among the top ten in scoring and rebounding in the Big Ten, but even with only 7 points and 7 boards on the game the Nittany Lions were able to scratch out the big win. Pringle blew out the candles for 20 points and 5 rebounds on his 23rd birthday, helping the Lions to almost double their scoring output in the last heads up battle.
2nd Half - :00
DeChelis did his best to try and ice Davis like a field goal kicker at the line. It seems to do the trick and more than enough time for Battle to take the board the length for the leap and the go ahead score!! The Bryce Jordan Center explodes in jubilation and that may be the shot that propels the Lions into the promised land!! The Illini need nothing short of a miracle with less than half a second on the clock!! Wow!! 64-63 Penn State back on top with a mystifying 14-3 run to seal the deal!! They storm the court as Penn State takes it at home!! Final Score from Happy Valley: Illinois Fighting Illini 63 - Your Penn State Nittany Lions with one of the biggest wins in school history!!
2nd Half - :08
The Illini can't make it a mandatory three for the tie, but it's Jackson with the rebound and a chance to take it away at the bitter end. Instead of calling time to draw up a winner, they get ahead of themselves and give it right back to the enemy!! An immediate foul takes less than a second, and still plenty of time to get it right the final time around. Davis drops them in at a 70% clip on the season and will have to think it all over with a Penn State timeout with 9 seconds on the clock and the key shots coming up. This is what it's all about!!
