Huskies Handle Cardinal -
Washington follows it's first regular season Big 12 title in more than half a century with a quarterfinal victory over the stubborn Stanford Cardinal. Jon Brockman and Isaiah Thomas took care of business in their respective roles and will try and pull a repeat performance when they take on the Arizona State Sun Devils in the semifinal round tomorrow night. Lorenzo Romar is doing some of the best coaching of his career and the top seeded Huskies are hoping to carry their momentum into the NCAA Tournament. Thanks for joining me for some great Pac-10 performances and keep coming back for more. I love this game and now so should you!!
2nd Half - :00
The Huskies have already punched their ticket to the NCAA Tournament with a regular season for the Washington record books. They are now fighting for a high seed in the opening round, with a two within reach, but a solid three much more likely. Stanford has a shot in the dark at a postseason bid, but their egos will have to prepare for an underachieving NIT bid. Final Score from the Staples Center: Stanford Cardinal 73 - Washington Huskies 85 for the quality Quarterfinal win.
2nd Half - 1:44
Stanford can't hit the wide open looks, but a solid performance from Landry Fields continues to give them second chance looks. 16 points and a dozen rebounds, but seemingly to much Huskies down the stretch. With a trio of sub six foot guards grabbing a total of 22 off the glass for Washington, they have been able to adjust to the 20 turnovers, not allowing them to get thrown off their game. 120 seconds between the Huskies and a meeting with the Sun Devils from Arizona State.
2nd Half - 3:09
Brockman bounces the lead back up to double-digits in a hurry and a too quick shot from the hot handed Green may have left the door open for the Huskies to seal the deal. The Pac-10 Championship hasn't disappointed in it's opening few games, with much more to come before deciding a new number one overall!! 3 minutes remain in the first quarterfinal match up, with the last hopes of an NCAA bid starting to slip away from the Cardinal at the end.
2nd Half - 4:20
Washington is being patient with the play making, as time is now their sixth man on the floor. Only 6 rebounds for Brockman, but his enormous presence is felt on almost every single loose ball. If they handed out points for hustle, he would have a double-double two times over!! The Huskies have 6 players with at least 8 points and if the Cardinal can't make a few timely holds, it will get away before the clock says it's the end.
