Glog (Live Commentary)
Postgame -
Maryland earns at least one more game, coming up Saturday against Memphis. The Tigers just barely survived a contest against a 15 seed today while the Terps looked mighty impressive in the game just finished, so Maryland should be feeling pretty good about that matchup.
Postgame -
Vasquez led all scorers with 27 points by going 10-of-21 from the field, 3-of-7 from beyond the arc, and 4-for-6 from the line. For the Bears, Robertson and Christopher had nice second halves, but that's when Randle went cold from the floor. The team was never in sync through the game and never had the outside shooting touch that carried it into the tournament.
2nd Half - 0:00
The final buzzer sounds at Spring Center in Kansas City, giving Maryland a first-round victory over California by a score of 84-71. The Terrapins recorded 50 points in the second-half and outscored the Golden Bears 34-20 in the final 12:12 of the game, turning a one-point deficit into a generous margin of victory.
2nd Half - 0:26
Back-to-back scores by Vasquez seals the game for the Terps, with a 3-pointer followed by a steal and fast-break layup. He has 27 points, four rebounds, and four assists, all categories that he led the team in during the regular season.
2nd Half - 1:53
Cal desperately wants its season to last at least one game longer, as Gutierrez drives to the rim for floater high off the backboard while getting fouled. The three points cuts the margin down to eight. It doesn't look like the Bears will be able to overcome a 7-for-22 mark from long range, though.
