Postgame -
Dayton was in control throughout, taking a lead in the early minutes of the game and never giving it up. The club was led by Wright's career-high 27 points to go with 10 rebounds, two assists, and two blocks. Little helped him with the scoring with 18 points while Warren often found him underneath while compiling nine assists. The Flyers defense was solid as well, holding the Mountaineers to 36.7 percent shooting overall and 5-for-20 from beyond the arc.
2nd Half - 0:00
The Flyers had 20 trips to the line in the second half. Although they didn't make too many of them, they made enough to hold off the Mountaineers at the end to win by a final score of 68-60. They go on to the second round to take on No. 3 Kansas on Sunday.
2nd Half - 0:42
Dayton takes advantage of a third opportunity to score when Little gets inside for a layup, his sixth straight points for the Flyers. That opens the lead to seven points and should just about seal the game for the 11th-seeded Flyers. The sixth-seeded Mountaineers are closing in on an early exit from the tournament.
2nd Half - 0:56
The Flyers are controlling the late game action by crashing the boards, with a couple offensive rebounds on one play keeping the ball in their possession while taking precious seconds off the clock. Both clubs are great rebounding teams, and although West Virginia has the edge overall today, Dayton is getting the rebounds at the most crucial time.
2nd Half - 1:54
Ruoff is playing dangerously with four fouls, so Little takes advantage of his hesitation by driving right at him. Little pushes his way toward the rim, throws up an off-balance shot, and gets the basket and the foul. Ruoff fouls out of the game while Dayton maintains the five-point edge.
