Glog (Live Commentary)
Postgame -
Thabeet was the biggest spectacle for UConn, with 15 points, 15 boards, and four blocks, but he got contributions from up and down the lineup. Price added 15 points, seven assists, and two steals while Robinson contributed a double-double of his own with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Austrie led the team with 17 points thanks to three 3-pointers.
2nd Half - 0:00
The final buzzer sounds at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, signaling Connecticut's 72-60 victory over Purdue. After building a 14-3 lead in the opening minutes, the Huskies allowed numerous rallies from the Boilermakers, but always had a lead of at least three points. They ran away with the game at the end to make the scoring outcome consistent with the way they dominated the game throughout.
2nd Half - 0:30
UConn cruised through the first two rounds, so this close contest should be welcome preparation the rest of the way. The competition for the rest of the tourney only get tougher, with the next round featuring a meeting with either No. 2 Memphis or No. 3 Missouri. Austrie sinks a couple free throws here to make him one of three Huskies with 15 points and to keep the lead well into double figures.
2nd Half - 1:33
Purdue has to rush its shots as the game clock ticks away, which is making the Boilermaker's shooting even worse than it's been throughout the night. They're making under 35 percent from the field and are 5-for-22 from beyond the arc. Their leading scorer in Moore has been held to an ineffective seven points, Hummel has been quiet since the break, and Johnson's efforts in the second half aren't nearly enough.
2nd Half - 2:20
The crowd, sparse looking only because the game's being played in a cavernous football stadium, is as loud as it's been in the game when a horrible ball goes against Thabeet and gifts Purdue two points. Thabeet is called for goal-tending, even through he didn't touch the ball until it was about two feet under the rim. That likely won't affect the outcome, though, with the UConn lead still at 10.
