Postgame -
UNLV advances to the second round of the Midwest Regional Saturday to face top-seeded Kansas. The Jayhawks defeated Portland State earlier today 85-61 after scoring 49 points in the first half.
2nd Half - 0:00
Held to 10 points in the first half and trailing by as many as 25, Kent State makes some kind of showing with a 48-point second. That only serves to make its defeat not quite as bitter, losing by a final score of 71-58. That's it for the Golden Flashes this year, while the UNLV Runnin' Rebels get to play at least one more.
2nd Half - 1:36
Kent State is in the NCAA tournament for the second time in three years, with similar results both times. They were eliminated by Pittsburgh in the first round in 2006 and they'll only go one game deep into the 2008 tourney. Scott sinks a couple 3-pointers and is heating up for the Golden Flashes with the game winding down, but it's not nearly enough.
2nd Half - 3:06
Adams won first-team all-conference honors by finishing in the top 10 in the league in scoring, assists, steals, field-goal percentage, free-throw shooting, and 3-pointers made. He scored an average of 24.0 points in his three games during the Mountain West postseason and adds 17 more points today. He'll get at least one more game this season as UNLV holds on to it's big cushion.
2nd Half - 5:16
UNLV forward Joe Darger pretty much encapsulates how the Rebels are playing today. First he sinks a long two while falling down to beat the shot clock. Then, his 3-point attempt banks off the glass and through the net. All his shots are falling in the second, giving him 13 points in the half while the Rebels are shooting nearly 70 percent since the break. UNLV's leading 62-42.
