Beasley started slowly as the Trojans flustered him into early foul trouble. But justice prevailed, as the best player in college basketball took over the contest and finished with 23 points, 11 boards and 2 nice assists. He will surely be the number one overall draft pick in this summers NBA draft, and the Heat will need more than luck to land the top prize. OJ Mayo and the Trojans were just overmatched in the paint as they were outrebounded on the offensive end by 7 and 0 overall. The Wildcats look primed to pounce in the second round, where they await the victor of tonights Cal State Fullerton and Wisconsin. Thanks for joining me everyone and stay tuned for more great NCAA tournament action. Michael Beasley, Future Heat All-Star. That has a nice ring to it.
2nd Half - :00
Mayo misses a long desperation three and Sutton takes it the length for the door slamming jam. OJ comes right back with the nifty layup, but the Wildcats stopped playing defense a while ago. Kansas State will go to 13-1 when they score at least 80. Mayo continues to pad his stats, but it's a team game, isn't it. The first upset of the day as the Trojans fall. 80-67 Kansas State is victorious.
2nd Half - 1:12
That should be all for the Trojans and I hope nobody was riding them all the way in their bracket. It's six on five as the clock is now in K-States corner. Gibson finally overstayed his welcome on the floor, and fouls out of the ballgame with 10 points and 9 rebounds. 76-63
2nd Half - 3:00
Gibson rises up for the slam, but Sutton is there to make him earn it at the line. He is just over 50% from there, so a great play for the defense. Walker rains down a three for his first points of the second half. Beasley hits double-digit rebounds and Pullen dishes to Anderson for the score. Mayo picks up his 4th dish, but then Michael steals back his thunder with a three ball. The big man can do it all, as he is over 40% from beyond the line this season. Biggest lead of the game, 72-60 Trojans in trouble.
2nd Half - 4:44
No field goals for the Trojans in the last five minutes and it is amazing that it is this close. Beasley gets the call down low, and as usual draws the triple team. He manages to flip it over his shoulder and in and the whistle. He has three plays in similar fashion and is utterly dominant in the painted region. Walker and Beasley draw the entire defense on the next trip upcourt and Jacob Pullen is right there when the seas are parted. He takes it to the rim and the lead is 8 for the Wildcats.
