The Spartans move on to take on either Memphis or Mississippi State in Houston in the Sweet 16. I'm going to watch the end of this UCLA game.
Final -
Sparty knocks off one of the hottest teams in the land and are headed to the Sweet 16 in Houston, Texas. They do it with solid play and free throw shooting down the stretch and great performances by Nietzel, Lucas and Suton. Limiting the Panthers to 33% shooting didn't hurt either.
2nd Half - 0:50
Solid free throw shooting by the Spartans down the stretch all but puts this one away. Michigan State would need to have a serious collapse to give this one away.
2nd Half - 1:48
Gilbert Brown comes up with a steal on an inbound play then gets a wide open look at a triple but bricks it. That could have put the Panthers back in this one. Instead, they had to foul Travis Walton who grabbed the board. Pitt is in dire straits now.
2nd Half - 1:48
Fields is on the floor and he is in quite a bit of pain. He went down and immediately grabbed his left ankle. He broke it earlier this season and it was thought that he may not return this year. He was called for a charge on the play, which was a bad call up on further review. Sparty nearly has this one locked up. Fields looks like he'll be alright.
