Glog (Live Commentary)
Postgame -
No 12-seed has ever beaten a one-seed, and although it didn't happen tonight, Western Kentucky did its best to make it close. Tyrone Brazelton had a game-high 31 points on 10-of-21 shooting, including six from 3-point range, but it wasn't enough for the Hilltoppers. Their season ends tonight while the Bruins have at least one more weekend.
2nd Half - 0:00
The Bruins gave up 78 points, the second highest total they've allowed all season, but hold on for an 88-78 win. That earns UCLA a meeting with Xavier among the Elite 8.
2nd Half - 0:37
Western Kentucky made a furious run at it, but never got any closer than four points in the second half. That in itself is an admirable feat considering the 21-point halftime deficit. The Hilltoppers never stop trying, with Brazelton sinking a 24-foot 3-pointer that makes it interesting, but the Bruins are making their free throws to stay in front.
2nd Half - 1:36
UCLA held its first two opponents in the tourney to 29 and 49 points and kept Western Kentucky to a season-low 20 points in the first half. The Bruins have given up 51 so far in the second half alone, but they still hold the lead thanks to an offense led by Love's 27 points. It's UCLA by six at 77-71.
2nd Half - 3:10
Slaughter misses a three that would have turned it into a one-point game. That opens up a window where UCLA scores 11 of the next 14 points to once again lead by double digits. The Bruins wilted under the pressure of a big lead, but they've managed to turn it on again when faced with defeat.
