Xavier used 26 points from Josh Duncan and an 11-for-19 line from 3-point range to hold off a late rally by West Virginia that forced overtime to win in the extra period. That gets them in the round of eight and a matchup against the winner of the UCLA-Western Kentucky game coming up.

The Mountaineers were transformed into a defensive-oriented team when Bob Huggins took over before the season. It showed when they limited their first two opponents of the tournament to an average of 66 points. At the end of today's game, Huggins couldn't keep the disappointment of a 79-75 loss off his face. West Virginia's season ends in the third round of the NCAA tournament.

West Virginia was somehow able to withstand Xavier's barrage of 3-pointers in the early part of the game, but they won't have enough time to come back from this late outburst. With two seconds on the shot block on an inbounds pass, Raymond is left all alone outside of the arc and calmly sinks the three to give the Musketeers a two-possession lead.
Overtime - 0:32
The three was what gave Xavier its 18-point advantage in the first half. The three could be what winds up giving them the win. B.J. Raymond sinks one from outside to give the Musketeers a one-point edge, leaving them 32 seconds from advancing to the Elite 8.
Overtime - 1:51
Sure C.J. Anderson and Brown could be on the bench, allowing the Mountaineers to concentrate their defense around Duncan. But, that frees up Drew Lavender to sink a 3-pointer that ties it up at 72. Lavender hadn't scored since making two 3-pointers in the opening six minutes.
