Postgame -
North Carolina is back on track after the loss to Maryland last week, with Duke looming on March 8 and the ACC championship tournament shortly after that. The way the Tar Heels played today - owning the boards, aggressive on offense to draw fouls, and harrying on defense to force turnovers - they should have no trouble taking a top seed in the NCAA tourney.
2nd Half - 0:00
The final buzzer sounds at Smith Center in Chapel Hill, giving North Carolina a 104-74 win over Georgia Tech. Although, the game was decided long ago when the Tar Heels went on a 29-7 run in a span stretching from the end of the first half and the start of the second.
2nd Half - 1:05
Hansbrough will finish with 28 points and 10 rebounds on 10-of-13 shooting from the field. His eight free throws moves him atop the NCAA career list, topping Dickie Hemric's 905 free throws set with Wake Forest from 1952-55. He has two more regular season games and perhaps an extended run in the postseason to build on those stats.
2nd Half - 2:32
North Carolina opens the lead back out to 32 points when Bobby Frasor sneaks in front of a pass and goes the length of the court for an easy lay in. The Tar Heels have now forced 17 turnovers, 12 in the second half alone.
2nd Half - 4:12
Ellington sinks a couple technical free throws after suffering a hard foul going up for a transition bucket. With just over four minutes to play, the margin now stands at 15 points, which can be entirely explained by North Carolina's 19-1 advantage in made free throws. A disparity like that on free throws alone is pretty much impossible for any team to overcome.
