Glog (Live Commentary)
Huskies Handle Tigers -
J.T. Tiller simply ran out of steam at the end and the sharp shooting of Lyons and Lawrence, combined with the smash and dash of DeMarre Carroll was just not enough to send the Huskies back to Storrs. They will wait for the winner of Louisville and Michigan State and a chance to play for the 2009 National Title. Villanova and Pittsburgh on the way, with the Final Four possibly 3/4 Big East. I love this game and now so should you. March Madness at it's absolute best. Keep coming back for more. Wade for MVP.
Huskies Handle Tigers -
Final Score: 82-75. The Tigers fought to the finish, but came up a day late and a dollar short at the bitter end. Each side had three starters with at least a dozen points, but it was the dynamic bench play from the fantastic freshman Kemba Walker with a game high 23, with 5 boards and 3 assists as well. A.J. Price ran a picture perfect offensive program, and Thabeet did what he could when his fouls weren't keeping him off the floor. He, Adrien and Stan Robinson combined for 30 points and 26 rebounds, with Robinson making a personal stamp with a half dozen blocks in the paint.
2nd Half - :08
They will make their 3rd appearance in the Final Four, with their last two appearances going the distance for the gold. Coach Calhoun claimed the title in 1999 and 2004 and now moves that much closer to his third in this his 16th NCAA Tourney. Zaire Taylor makes drags it out with a last second three, but too little, too late and we have a final in just a few.
2nd Half - :23
The Huskies can finally exhale and start their packing for a trip to the Final Four. Detroit is waiting with open arms, but they certainly didn't do it without a knockdown, drag out fight!! A 22-6 differential at the charity stripe, but only because the Huskies failed to commit as many fouls.
2nd Half - :43
Walker hits a new career high at the stripe and the Huskies fans are starting to celebrate around the world. A 7 point separation, but Matt Lawrence makes it a two possession contest with a single flick of the wrist. Three points from the wing, and they are still not down for the final count, 76-70 with less than a minute to play.
