WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. -- Four players scored in double figures to lead Monmouth past Central Connecticut State 78-61 Saturday night.
The win represented the largest margin of victory this season for Monmouth (12-7, 6-2 Northeast Conference), which snapped a two-game losing streak.
Dwayne Byfield and Chris Kenny had 14 points apiece to lead Monmouth. Blake Hamilton scored 12 points and Brent Stephens had 11.
Ron Robinson led all scorers with 15 points for Central Connecticut State (5-10, 2-6).
Monmouth built a 21-point lead in the first half and expanded the margin to 65-41 with 7:36 left in the game. The Hawks shot 59 percent (30-for-51) from the field and 53 percent (10-of-19) from 3-point range.
