FULLERTON, Calif. (AP) -- Bobby Brown scored 23 points and Jamaal Brown made two free throws with 4.9 seconds to play to lead Cal State Fullerton to a 74-71 victory over UC Riverside Thursday night.
Ralphy Holmes and Jamaal Brown had 15 points apiece for the Titans (6-4, 2-1 Big West Conference), who have won three of their last four games. Hardy Asprilla added 12 points and a career-high 16 rebounds.
Fullerton, which led by as many as 10 points, held a 67-60 lead with 2:49 to play when Riverside used an 8-0 run to move ahead 68-67 with 1:10 left. Holmes and teammate Yaphett King fouled out in the final 3:17.
But the Titans regained a 70-68 lead when Asprilla scored on a no-look shot while falling and being fouled by Schille, then made the ensuing free throw with 50.5 seconds remaining.
The Highlanders narrowed their deficit to 72-71 on Justin Bell's 3-pointer with 5.9 seconds to go. But Jamaal Brown's two free throws one second later secured the victory.
Vili Morton had 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Highlanders (4-7, 0-3), who have lost four straight and have yet to win on the road this season.
