MILWAUKEE (AP) - Dan Fitzgerald scored a career-high 18 points, all on 3-pointers, to lead Marquette to a second victory over DePaul in eight days, 62-47, Wednesday night.
The sophomore forward was 6-of-7 from 3-point range.
The Golden Eagles (15-5, 5-2 in the Big East) also beat the Blue Demons 82-79 Jan. 17.
DePaul (8-10, 1-6) lost its fifth straight game and had to play more than a half without leading scorer Sammy Mejia, who averages 16.6 points per game and had a career-high 30 against Providence Saturday but twisted his left ankle with 2:24 left in the first half.
He did not return to the game and finished with two points and two rebounds.
Draelon Burns, a Milwaukee native, led DePaul with 16 points. No one else had more than eight points for the Blue Demons.
Steve Novak, Marquette's top scorer, was slowed by a sore left ankle and finished with five points and six rebounds.
Dominic James had 12 points and seven assists for the Golden Eagles.
But the night belonged to Fitzgerald, whose previous career high was 16 points on Feb. 21, 2004, when he played for Tulane in a game against Marquette.
Fitzgerald, who failed to score in the first meeting with DePaul, had of total of 16 points in his previous six games.
Averaging only 4.4 points per game, he had 12 points and was 4-of-5 from 3-point range as Marquette built a 36-24 halftime lead.
His 3-pointer capped an 8-0 run that gave Marquette a 53-43 lead with 8:35 left in the game.
