Georgia vs Colorado

Colorado coach Tad Boyle wasn't discouraged by his players' latest performance despite seeing a long winning streak end.

Georgia coach Mark Fox was annoyed even though his team's win streak continued.

Boyle hopes his 21st-ranked Buffaloes tune up for Pac-12 play with an easy home victory Saturday night over Fox's Bulldogs, who are beginning a rough stretch after struggling just to beat inferior opponents in recent weeks.

Colorado's win over then-No. 6 Kansas on Dec. 6 highlighted a run of 10 consecutive victories - its longest in more than 40 years - going into a matchup with seventh-ranked Oklahoma State last Saturday in Las Vegas. The Buffaloes (10-2) never led in the second half, when they allowed the Cowboys to shoot 61.9 percent en route to a 78-73 loss.

"To play the No. 7 team in the country and not feel good about it, but still only lose by five points, there's something about this team," Boyle said. "There's a lot of fight in them. They keep coming."

Boyle's team is among the national leaders in free-throw attempts with 30.8 per game but only got to the line 20 times last Saturday, making 15.

"That's a big part of your offensive identity and then you don't get to the free-throw line ??? for whatever reason ??? frustration sits in a little bit," Boyle said. "We've got to get better in that regard, so we have to become a better half-court execution team.

"... We have so much room for improvement, we still haven't put a (complete) game together."

Boyle would like his team get a lot closer to doing so with the Pac-12 schedule beginning next week against Oregon State and 12th-ranked Oregon.

Josh Scott posted his second straight double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds, Askia Booker had 19 points and Spencer Dinwiddie added 18.

"We were there with them," said Scott, tied for fourth in the Pac-12 with 8.9 boards per game. "We didn't play our best game."

The Buffaloes might not need to be at their best to defeat Georgia at home, where they've won 17 straight non-conference games.

The Bulldogs (6-4) have yet to face a ranked team and lost their only three games against major conference foes as part of a four-game skid in November. They've rebounded to win five in a row, all at home against small-school opponents - none currently with a winning record.

In fact, the last three victories were all by single digits. Georgia didn't lead in the second half until the final two minutes of last Saturday's 65-63 win over Western Carolina.

"I thought their team deserved to win that game more than ours did," Fox said. "... We have to play more complete than we played. I didn't coach well and I told our team that."

Sophomore guards Charles Mann and Kenny Gaines totaled 30 points and are the team's top scorers, combining to average 25.2. Colorado's junior backcourt of Dinwiddie and Booker account for 27.8 per game.

The Bulldogs are 3-14 away from home since the start of last season and now face three difficult road games. After visiting Boulder, they play a pair of 10-1 teams - George Washington on Friday and No. 25 Missouri on Jan. 8 to open SEC play.

Georgia leads the series 6-2 but most recently lost 70-68 in Boulder on Nov. 28, 2011, as Dinwiddie scored a game-high 16 points and Booker added 14.
