Kansas vs TCU

After beating a string of ranked opponents, Kansas gets a matchup with the last-place team in the Big 12.

The No. 8 Jayhawks, though, likely won't take Saturday night's visit to TCU lightly after what happened last season.

Kansas (14-4, 5-0) knocked off its fourth Top 25 foe in as many games Monday with a 78-68 victory over No. 24 Baylor. It's the first team to accomplish that feat in the regular season since North Carolina in 1996-97.

Perry Ellis scored a team-best 18 points after totaling 14 in his previous two games. Star freshman Andrew Wiggins had 17 points after being held to a career-low three in an 80-78 win over then-No. 9 Oklahoma State last Saturday.

The Jayhawks will now get to face a TCU squad that's gone 2-22 in the Big 12 since joining the league at the beginning of last season. One of those two wins, however, was a stunning 62-55 home victory over then-No. 5 Kansas on Feb. 6.

The Jayhawks shot 29.5 percent - their worst performance in 14 seasons - and went 3 of 22 from 3-point range in the game. TCU shot 39.1 percent in its first Big 12 victory after an 0-8 start, earning its first-ever win over a top-5 opponent.

"It is, without question, one of the strangest games that I've ever been a part of, and I've been a part of some strange games," Kansas coach Bill Self said.

Ellis and Naadir Tharpe are the only Kansas players on this season's squad who played at least eight minutes in the contest. Tharpe scored 11 points but shot 2 of 15.

Three of Kansas' top four current scorers were in high school when that game took place.

"We all know how well we played at TCU last year. Hopefully, our returning guys will remind our new guys of that," Self said.

Kansas blew out TCU 74-48 in the rematch Feb. 23 at Allen Fieldhouse.

The Horned Frogs (9-9, 0-6) were tied with No. 25 Oklahoma with 3:46 to play Wednesday before going cold in a 77-69 road defeat. They missed their last three shots and three of their final six free-throw attempts while being outscored 11-3 down the stretch.

Kyan Anderson, who averages 15.1 points, scored 23 after totaling 15 in his previous two games.

"We're a lot better team than we've shown previously in five league games," coach Trent Johnson said. "Hopefully, this will give us some confidence. ... That's probably as well as we've played during league play."

Kansas has won five of six all-time meetings with TCU. The Jayhawks are making their third trip to Fort Worth.
