FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) Lucious Jordan scored a game-high 30 points Friday to lead Albany to an 85-67 season-opening victory over Sacred Heart.
Jordan, a transfer from Loyola (Md.), scored 13 points in the final five minutes of the first half to help Albany take a 13-point halftime lead.
The Great Danes also got 18 points from Jon Iati and 15 from Levi Levine. As a team they shot 54 percent from the floor.
Sacred Heart was led by Kibwe Trim, who scored 17 points, including 12 in the second half. Freshmen Luke Granato and Drew Shubik each scored 12 points.
Iati and Levine carried Albany's offense early, scoring 17 of the team's first 28 points. But after Sacred Heart cut an 11-point deficit to three with 5:33 to play in the first half, Jordan took over, hitting a pair of 3-pointers as the Great Danes took a 45-32 halftime lead.
Albany's lead was as high as 25 points.
