SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) Scott Hazelton went 8-for-13 from the floor and scored a team-high 22 points to give Rhode Island a 72-62 win over Brown on Friday night.
The Rams (1-0) led 39-36 at halftime and pulled away in the second half for the win in their season opener.
Tyrese Sullivan had 15 points while Jon Lucky and Terrence Mack added 11 each.
Brown (0-3) was led by Jason Forte, who hit 5 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 23 points. Damon Huffman had 14 points and Mark MacDonald added 13.
