RENO, Nev. (AP) Tournament MVP Nick Fazekas scored 27 points to lead Nevada to a 76-55 win over Georgia State in the championship game of the Jim Thorpe Classic on Sunday night.
Fazekas went 12-of-15 from the field, got 10 rebounds - and at one point early in the second half, he had outscored the Georgia State team 21-19. Kevinn Pinkney had 12 points and seven rebounds for Nevada (2-0).
Boyd Copeland scored 22 points for Georgia State (1-1), but the Panthers were outrebounded 42-27. The Wolf Pack shot 55 percent from the field, and Georgia State managed just 35 percent.
Fazekas scored 10 early points as Nevada jumped out to an 18-6 lead. The Wolf Pack led by 31 points in the second half.
The other all-tournament team members were Jermaine Washington and Pinkney of Nevada, Tikoyo Barnett of Georgia State, Jasper Johnson of Southern Mississippi and Torrey Phillips of Colorado-Colorado Springs.
