SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) Bruce Brown scored 18 of his 22 points in the first half when Hampton cruised to a 12-point lead on its way to a 70-52 victory over Savannah State on Sunday.
Hampton (1-1) maintained a double digit lead throughout the second half in handing the winless Tigers their third loss of the season. Brown, who hit 10 of 16 shots, also had 19 rebounds.
Josh Barker led Savannah State with 18 points and Lazarius Coleman added 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Jeff Granger his 4 of 10 3-pointers and finished with 14 points for Hampton and Devin Green added 13 points.
Hampton's biggest lead was 18 points - coming at the end of the game and with 11:14 left in the game when Brown hit a layup to make it 55-37.
