BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) Brandon Bass scored a career-high 30 points as LSU defeated Louisiana-Lafayette 83-69 in the championship game of the LSU Louisiana Classic on Sunday afternoon.
Bass also grabbed seven rebounds, including four in the midst of an 11-0 LSU run late in the second half that put the game out of reach for Louisiana-Lafayette.
The first half featured three ties and ten lead changes, but Bass scored eight points over the final four minutes before the break to give the Tigers (2-0) a 42-37 lead at halftime.
Louisiana-Lafayette (1-1) cut the lead to 1 point on a Tiras Wade 3-pointer midway through the second half. But the 11-0 run by LSU stretched the score from 70-60 to 81-60.
Antonio Hudson scored 22 points and Darrel Mitchell added 12 while Glen Davis picked up 13 rebounds for the Tigers.
The Ragin' Cajuns were led by Wade's 22 points, while Orien Greene picked up 18 points and Brian Hamilton scored 11.
