FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) Western Michigan's frontcourt trio of Ben Reed, Levi Rost and Joe Reitz combined for 42 points and dominated Alaska Fairbanks 88-65 Sunday during the seventh-place game of the Top of the World Classic.
Reed led his team with 17 points, while Reitz chipped in a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds.
The muscular Broncos (1-2) jumped out to leads of 10-2 and 20-11 before going on a 17-0 run to end the first half with a 49-22 lead.
The NCAA Division II Nanooks (2-3) had no answer for the Broncos.
Western Michigan outrebounded Alaska Fairbanks 49-22 and had 18 offensive rebounds. The Broncos also were 8 of 13 from behind the 3-point line (61.5 percent) and held the Nanooks to 39.7 percent from the field (23 of 58).
Rost scored 14 for the Broncos, while guard Silver Laku was perfect with 13 points on 3-of-3 shooting from the 3-point line and a 4-of-4 performance from the free-throw line.
Senior guard Brad Oleson led the Nanooks with 19 points, though he was 1 of 6 from the 3-point range. Andrew Smith added 17 points and a team-high six rebounds.
