STONY BROOK, N.Y. (AP) Mike Popoko scored 16 points and Mitchell Buford added 14 as Stony Brook beat winless Army 68-54 on Wednesday night for its first win of the season.
Bobby Santiago added 11 points for the Seawolves (1-1), who led 37-23 at halftime.
Matt Bell had 16 points and was the only dougle-figure scorer for the Black Knights (0-3).
After Luke Slater's basket got Army within one at 8-7 at 12:39 of the first half, Santiago hit a pair of jumpers as the Seawolves scored seven unanswered points to take command 15-7 at 12:27.
After Travis Owsley's basket moved the Black Knights to within 18-12 at 10:39, Jairus McCollum scored seven points as the Seawolves closed out the half on a 19-11 run.
